Ideas, Inspiration and Encouragement for MOPS Leaders
As we continue to focus our ministry on mothers of preschoolers, the actions and activities of the ministry of MOPS are to encourage, equip and develop. These verbs are reflective of the breadth of the ministry of MOPS and the various ways that we impact lives:
In addition to the active verbs that describe the ministry of MOPS, our mission statement clarifies our focus on the three distinct roles of a mother of preschoolers. First of all, she is a woman and we address and embrace the distinct characteristics of her as a woman - she is female, a daughter and possibly a wife. Secondly, she is a mother, whether she came into motherhood through biological, adoptive or a blended family situation. And she is a leader with a sphere of influence in her home, community and world. This view of our audience means that while we begin our interaction with her during the preschool season of her mothering, MOPS can offer a lifelong touch on her life as we speak into all her seasons as a woman, mother and leader.
Finally, two foundational principles in our mission statement. We are focused on every mother of preschoolers and our ministry operates in the name of Jesus Christ. Ministry that embraces every one and every kind of mother of preschoolers – with varying life situations and backgrounds - single, married, urban, suburban, working, stay-at-home, teen, older. And MOPS is a Christian ministry that seeks to honour Jesus and his purposes. Our arms of ministry reach wide to embrace women and mums at various places on their spiritual journeys, but ultimately we exist to draw mums into a relationship with Jesus Christ.

It was awesome. Over 40 something mums, and I think 13 of them new ones. Up to 7 tables. So we are growing. Still looking for a Hospitality coordinator and some regular MOPPETS carers to come on board so if you could pray specifically for those roles that would be great. Getting lots of good feedback from the Mums about this years topic/theme/curriculum so thats great and a wonderful speaker lined up for next MOPS (Jodie Hedley-Ward author of You Sexy Mother). Content of her book spot on for this years theme. She talks about not losing sight of yourself and your goals and identity as a mum. So all looking fwd to that. All looking fwd to the Regional Conference (hosting and attending that). Would love to hear from other MOPS around the region how their first few meetings have gone and what they have planned for the year ahead. Thanks, Michele Hill (Discussion Group Leader/Newsletter/Blog MOPS at MBC)
